The Japan-British Exhibition of 1910 took place at White City in Great Britain from 14 May 1910 to 29 October 1910. It was the largest international exposition that the Empire of Japan had participated in to date, and was driven by a desire of Japan to develop a more favorable public image in Great Britain following the renewal of the Anglo-Japanese Alliance. It was also hoped that the display of manufactured products would lead to increased Japanese trade with Britain.
And to think?…it was only a hundred years ago.

(AFP) – Yves Rocher, founder of a global cosmetics empire that carried his name and pioneered the use of natural ingredients, died in Paris on Saturday, a spokesman for his company said. He was 79. – The cause of his death was not disclosed.
In a statement, French President Nicolas Sarkozy called Rocher “a great French industrialist, inventor of plant-based cosmetics and pioneer of mail order retail.”

“Endocannabinoids both act in the brain to increase appetite and also modulate taste receptors on the tongue to increase the response to sweets,” said study senior author Yuzo Ninomiya, Ph.D., Professor of Oral Neuroscience in the Graduate School of Dental Sciences at Kyushu University in Japan.
Endocannabinoids are substances similar to THC, the active ingredient in marijuana. Produced in the brain and body, they bind with cannabinoid receptors to help regulate appetite and many other processes involved in health and disease.

A Norwegian man landed himself in hot water when police caught him having sex with his girlfriend as he raced at over 130 kilometres (80 miles) an hour through a 100km/h zone on a highway near Oslo.
A British academic who spent seven years collecting the dung of rare lizards in the Philippines was devastated when a clean-up team threw it out of his laboratory with the trash. “To some people it might have been just lizard shit… but to me it represented years of painstaking work,” he said.
