Vladimir Putin plays piano in Soviet sing-a-long

Attempting to add a little artistry to his macho image, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin tinkles the ivories in a stuttering rendition of an old Soviet-era favourite.

Mr Putin was being shown around a newly-renovated theatre in Moscow when he spotted the piano, and couldn’t resist the opportunity to play a few bars.

Staff at Moscow’s Theatre of Nations were keen to sing along as their Prime Minister tentatively played a short version of From What Does the Homeland Begin? – an old Soviet tune.

Its not the first time that Mr Putin has shown off his musical side. Back in December of 2010, he took to the stage at a charity fundraiser, playing the beginning of Fats Domino’s Blueberry Hill on piano before taking to the mic and adding vocals.
