When Carla Bruni-Sarkozy’s baby is delivered, it will be a first for a president in office in the history of the French republic. President Nicolas Sarkozy’s approval ratings have plunged to an all-time low. It’s seen likely that the baby will give his ratings a boost, particularly if, as rumored, the couple are having twins. The question is whether the boost will last until France goes to the polls for the 2012 presidential elections.
The 56-year-old head of state and 43-year-old ex-supermodel wife have other children between them. She has a son, Aurelian Enthoven, who was born in 2001. He has three sons from three previous marriages: Pierre Sarkozy, born in 1985; Jean Sarkozy, born in 1987; and Louis Sarkozy, born in 1997.
