‘England expects that every man will do his duty.’ Horatio Nelson
Trafalgar Day celebrates the victory won by Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson’s British fleet over the combined French and Spanish fleets at the Battle of Trafalgar on October 21, 1805. Sadly, it also commemorates his death on that same day.
The famous battle took place off Cape Trafalgar, Cadiz, Spain. It was a crucial victory for the British Navy in the Napoleonic wars.
