To call Sir Jimmy Savile a legend is almost doing him an injustice. Beloved by millions, his passing this week has been emotional news to many fans up and down the country.
Sir Jimmy’s funeral proper is to take place in Scarborough on Thursday the 10th of November, but fans will get a chance to say a proper goodbye thanks to plans to have his coffin on display to mourners who can make it to The Queens Hotel, in Leeds, two days beforehand on the 8th.
On the 9th, there shall be a Requiem Mass at St Anne’s Cathedral, also in Leeds, where it is expected that many of his admirers from the worlds of showbiz and charity work will be in attendance.
Jimmy would have been 85 years old on Monday — not a bad innings at all. And what an innings it was, living a life like no other, making dreams come to life in Jim’ll Fix It and hosting Top Of The Pops for many a year, not forgetting his incredible charity work, at one point raising £20 million for the National Spinal Injuries Centre at Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Aylesbury.
