YEOVIL Town Council has once again been awarded the highest grading for the public toilets that it provides in Peter Street.
The toilets were opened in June 2009 in response to public demand for improved town centre facilities.
Following an unannounced inspection last month by an independent assessor, the facilities have now been awarded a five-star rating for the second year running by the British Toilet Association.
The national accreditation process involves detailed inspection criteria that cover a number of aspects: Signage and communication; male and female facilities; baby-changing facilities; cleanliness; accessibility; state of repair; and safety measures.
Cllr Tony Lock, chairman of the council’s buildings and civic matters committee, said: “I am delighted that the quality of these facilities has again been recognised by an independent national assessor.
“This award underpins the town council’s commitment to delivering first-class services to the people of Yeovil and to providing key facilities for the benefit of shoppers and other visitors to the town.”
