Controversial “Sexy Dog” Meme Sweeping China

Welcome to the world of “sexy dogs”, where owners adorn their pooches with heels, boots, tiaras, and of course the key component: pantyhose.

Some call the sexy dog craze “sick” and “idiotic” while others praise it as “hilarious” and “creative.” Take a look and judge for yourself.

These photos like most pantyhosed dog pics can be found on Sina Weibo often referred to as “China’s Twitter.”

Brewer makes a hooch for pooches

A US brewery has released an alcohol free beer – just for dogs.

Dawg Grog is on sale in Bend, Oregon, where Boneyard Brewery creates its selection of bespoke beers.

Described as a ‘healthy, nutritional, liquid treat for your best friend’, the beer can be served on its own or poured over food.

The beverage is packed full of vegetables and spices including ginger, cinnamon and honey, reports Metro.

It is the brainchild of Boneyard Brewery taster Daniel Keeton, who says his own dog just can’t get enough of the stuff.

“Two things that have become part of the Bend lifestyle are beer and dogs,” Visit Bend CEO, Doug LaPlaca told KTVZ.

“So to create something that would take advantage of the two we thought was a brilliant idea.

“Initially, people have to look at the label twice. Then they ask us: “Is this really for dogs?””

Driving dogs throw away their L-plates

Dogs driving cars

Three rescue dogs trained to drive by an animal rescue charity have successfully passed their tests.

They each successfully guided a specially modified Mini around a race track in Auckland, New Zealand.

Monty, a giant schnauzer; Ginny, a whippet cross; and Porter, an old beardie cross, were put through their paces on live television.

The initiative was set up by the New Zealand Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals to show how clever rescue dogs can be.

The dogs spent seven weeks learning how to start the car, accelerate, change gears and steer.

Trainer Mark Vette, who has worked with animals on a number of Hollywood blockbusters, said: “This has been the toughest assignment we’ve had.

“It’s all the dog doing it. He’s started the key, put the paw on the brake to allow it to go into gear, put it into drive, paw on the steering wheel, accelerator on, and off he goes down the track.

“We’ve done Lord of the Rings, many of the big movies but to actually get a dog in a car with no trainer and it does the whole gig itself, I tell you what, it’s been a real challenge.”

Animal charity teaches dogs to drive

A New Zealand animal welfare group has spent eight weeks teaching three of its shelter dogs to drive.

The Aukland SPCA says it wanted to show how intelligents dogs were to encourage more people to adopt them.

Three dogs were chosen from a group of seven and given daily training exercises to familiarise themselves with the mechanics of driving.

After just eight weeks Porter, Monty and Ginny were put behind the wheels of an adapted Mini Cooper and reporetdly managed to put it in gear, accelerate and steer.

So far, the dogs have been driving with the help of an assistant inside the car, but their next challenge is to drive solo on live television.

Auckland SPCA chief Christine Kalin said: “They will hop in, start the car, put it into gear, use the accelerator.

“It’s an off-road raceway track and at all times we have a remote capacity to stop the car should we need to.”

Ms Kalin described the three pooches as “highly adoptable”, adding: “They are very intelligent, but they aren’t any more special than any of the other SPCA dogs.

“Our dream would be throughout our major cities and across Australasia will be people will be proud of owning a rescue dog.”

First walk for Britain’s smallest dog

Mini /Bournemouth News/Rex

Britain’s smallest dog has embarked on her first walk – despite being too tiny to fit the littlest of leads.

Pocket-sized Mini is just seven inches long and slips through every shop-bought collar.

However, dedicated owner Emma Williams came up with the perfect solution, reversing the lead and slipping the handle end over Mini’s head.

It meant Ms Williams, 29, could take the tiny pooch for a stroll along the seafront in Sandbanks, Dorset.

The chilly winter air meant that Mini had to don a coat made from a child’s sock, but running around helped to keep her warm.

And the Yorkshire terrier-Chihuahua cross showed she’s no scaredy dog when she came face to face with a huge St Bernard dog.

Mini was the runt of a litter of six puppies and weighed just 1.3ozs – little more than an egg – when she was born.

Ms Williams became a surrogate mum to Mini and fed her milk formula every two hours.

She said: “When I took Mini out for a walk everyone stopped to talk to her, a few people even thought I was walking a pet rat which was very funny.

“During the walk pretty much everything was an obstacle, so we mainly walked along the beach.”

Council plan to DNA dog poo

Dog fouling sign /Rex

A Kent parish council wants to use DNA testing on dog waste in a bid to catch owners who allow pets to soil the pavement.

Councillors sitting on Sundridge with Ide Hill Parish Council discussed the plans after hearing a string of complaints from villagers.

People in the two villages, near Sevenoaks, complained inconsiderate pet owners were “ruining the area”.

The council says it is now considering collecting DNA from waste and using it to prosecute anti-social owners.

Although never before used in the UK, DNA testing on dog mess has been used in Germany and the US.

Owners must give consent for a DNA sample to be taken from their pet, but once they are on the database their behaviour can be logged for their entire lifetime.

According to the minutes of the meeting, the council agreed to take a tougher stance on fining offending dog owners and to make sure the dog warden visited the area regularly.

The minutes added: “If this still remains a problem it is possible to take DNA from the poo and trace it back to the dog and its owner.”

Anna West, 36, of Sundridge, who walks her dog Harvey in the area, said: “It just seems bizarre to me. Crazy. It’s Big Brother gone mad, really.”

It’s Dogtoberfest!

dogtoberfest

As the canine-lovers among you are doubtless already aware, last weekend saw the eighth annual Dogtoberfest take place in Jacksonville, Florida.

Held to raise funds for St Francis Service Dogs, the event was attended by nearly 4,000 dogs and their owners for a variety of pooch-related activities. According to the Daily Mail, these included: doggie limbo, doggie dice roll and Let’s Make A Doggie Deal. (No, we’ve no idea about that last one either.)

Anyway, many of the dogs came along in fancy dress, including this little chap who showed up dressed as a frog…
